Enabling Works, Bulk Excavation & Earthworks
Enabling works
Before anything gets built, the site has to be cleared and made ready. We strip the topsoil and vegetation, grub up old foundations, slabs and buried obstructions, and break out and cart away old hardstanding. Then we set the site up so the following trades can get straight on with their work.
Bulk excavation
Bulk excavation is about moving large volumes of ground. We carry out reduced level digs to the levels on your drawings, along with pond and reservoir digs, swimming pool digs and basement digs, checking levels as we go. We also take out unwanted banks and clear waste material from brownfield sites. The spoil can be stockpiled on site for reuse or loaded out to licensed tips, and we plan the dig, the haul route and the wagon movements together so the machines are not stood waiting.
Earthworks
Earthworks is about shaping the ground, not just taking it away. We form bunds, dig out, reroute or culvert streams and ditches, and infill old ponds and low ground. Where the levels allow, we use cut and fill to reuse material on site, placing and compacting it in layers, which cuts down on muck away and imported stone. Where ground needs raising, we bring in and compact suitable fill. We finish by levelling and grading to the engineer's formation levels, ready for slabs, roads, yards or the building.
