Two oilfield sites in Horndean, Hampshire

Three 15 × 2.5 m slabs and two 5 × 2.5 m slabs in C35 concrete, A393 mesh reinforcement, 150 mm concrete edging
Programme
Completed in under four weeks, on programme and within budget
The Challenge
Star Energy Group asked us to install reinforced concrete bunds beneath and around existing, operational oil-carrying pipelines across two oilfield sites in Horndean.
The sites carried a significant fire risk. Mobile phones were banned near the oil extraction equipment and all works had to be "cold".
How We Did It
Reinforcement was cut with cropping machinery instead of grinders. Close coordination with the client's own site team meant the works went ahead safely and without interrupting operations, and the bunds were completed on programme and within budget.
